Optimalisasi Limbah Minyak Jelantah Menjadi Lilin Aromaterapi Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kemandirian Ekonomi Masyarakat

Used cooking oil is a household waste that has the potential to cause environmental pollution if not properly managed; however, it also offers opportunities to be developed into value-added economic products. This community service activity aimed to enhance community economic self-reliance through the utilization of used cooking oil as a raw material for aromatherapy candles branded “Serumpun Jelita.” The activity was conducted on January 25, 2026, in Bulurejo Village, Hamlet 3, targeting groups of housewives who did not yet have productive economic enterprises. The implementation methods included socialization on used cooking oil waste management, training on aromatherapy candle production, assistance in product packaging and pricing determination, as well as evaluation of activity outcomes. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, as reflected by an increase in the average understanding score from 45% before the training to 85% after the training. A total of 90% of participants were able to independently produce aromatherapy candles. From an economic perspective, the aromatherapy candle products had a production cost of approximately IDR 5,000 per unit and a selling price ranging from IDR 12,000 to IDR 15,000 per unit, yielding a potential profit margin of up to 60%. These findings demonstrate that the utilization of used cooking oil into aromatherapy candles not only contributes to waste reduction but also effectively enhances sustainable community economic self-reliance.Downloads
